An Act of Desperation by jessadilla An Act of Desperation by jessadilla
Aneir fighting off a beast.

These particular creatures are not tameable, but they can be captured. Well the males can. Females tend to be better at evading capture since they\'re even larger. Anyway, the enemy set them loose upon Aneir\'s battalion when they realized they were not going to win the battle.

Trying to do a drawing a day, got carried away with this one though! Being good and not naming all the mistakes in this, trying to let it be. Though I should mention, I forgot the tails on the arrows in the backgrounds like a doofus! Oh well!

It looks like some old epic book illustration, or a church window mosaic..gorgeous.
Now I'm thinking of doing something like that:)

This is great. First and foremost what caught my attention was Aneir's expression. It sucks you into the piece, especially her eyes. This is definitely a moment where even the most seasoned soldiers fear and you've captured that perfectly. The colors you did this in are stunning. Aneir stands out in her blue armor but it doesn't isolate her. Instead it looks like she's the only thing that hasn't been destroyed but is still at risk which is further accentuated by the red limning her figure. I actually like how you did the arrows. It suits the style of your piece. The detail work is intricate and one of my favorite things is the torn bit of cloth on the butt of Aneir's spear. It makes me curious of what value it may or may not have.

You should get wrapped up in your art more often. It lets us see facets of your skills that aren't normally shown to us.

Wow, I really appreciate this comment ;___; I was trying really hard to make all the colors make sense and still get the mood of it right, and gosh, I'm glad it seems the choices I made were good. ;w;

Wow, I wasn't sure if anyone would noticed the bit of cloth, but I made it stand out on purpose. It is the color of the flag of the kingdom she is fighting for. Though she's from a desert/dry farming community, she joined the military after her village was invaded, and the heart/capitol of the kingdom is on the coast, so they fly the colours of the sea. I don't know if it is obvious, but I tried to add a few waves in her armor design as well as kelp looking stuff. I don't even know if that armor is official, as I really just wanted to draw some intricate armor, but yeah! There is your explanation since you noticed <3

Thanks so much Alyssa! <3
